'Its not who you 'Are' ..it's who you 'Be'........

So this morning..... off I went, out the door, looking for all the world, like an eccentric old bag lady, battered old suitcase in hand
to the Pretty Shop....

'New to me' Boots from the charity shop.....

**

Which leads me to tell you of last Sunday morning, just as we were about to leave our little crooked house, the husband and I, and I turned to him and asked him quite sincerely...

'Deary........Do I look like an eccentric old bag lady?
where as, he turns to me and replies (the husband that is)

'Sophie, you Are an eccentric old bag lady'

Nuff said...!

**

So back to (this morning.......do keep up) suitcase in hand, seller &
purveyor of the handmade & Eclectic,......her humm
me lady...doffs cap....

Inside old battered suitcase
Prairie dolls

**
which leads me nicely too....

The title of my post a line from one of Terry Pratchetts books, I hope he doesn't mind me borrowing it,
I have them everywhere......wise words from other people..... scribbled on bits of paper, receipts, ....oooh I must write that down..... have been doing it for years.  They come in handy other peoples words....

I rather liked the comment I received from Eco Ethel  that I should craft an alter ego for myself and just be that 'me' whenever I like, I rather think I would be

'Hettie Brown'
Wanderer, Forager Wooly sock wearer......

And oh to be called Hettie Brown
maybe thats who I 'Be', Mr Pratchett.....

Maybe.....

****
Little note #1....
I couldn't sell her (Hettie Brown, that is).....of course I couldn't...
you cannot sell your alter ego,
can you Ethel?

xx

Little note #2
Pretty shop would like lots of my Prairie Dolls...Yey!!
and some bunting :-)

Little note #3
I am linking to THIS POST and THIS ONE!
just incase nobody knows what I am on about..

I'm afraid if you still have no clue what I am on about,
 all may be
Lost

Little note #4
it seems I am on a blogging Frenzy :-)
How about you?
 how's your day going?
x

P.s who would you be?.....

P.P.S
I am off to do battle with last night saucepan, half filled with dried up mash potato
Wish me luck....

  11. What a lovely cheery post! No one can be completly bag-lady with amazing boots like those. Eccentric maybe... Fill the pans with hot soap water then abandon them to do something more interesting instead. When you come back the mash will glide off!

  14. Two posts in one day! Takes me all my time to do one a week!

A 'friend' called me eccentric once ... To her surprise I took it as a great compliment ... Why would we all want to be the same!

So glad you've got a big order for the girls BT don't forget, save one for me!

As for the potato, add an egg, some grated cheese, chopped spring onions and chillies, and fry in dollops ... Bliss!

    Enjoy your evening Sophie

  15. These dolls are so precious! Who wouldn't want to take them all in :) You are like a character in really good book ... one of those books that you want to read in your best cozy chair with tea and a soft wool blanket over your knees :) As to alter egos ... my college professor once told me "you look like a Wendy" and although the entire class laughed, I wasn't sure what to make of it. So I guess I'm a 'Wendy' through and through ;)

  16. I think that is possibly one of the nicest things any one has Ever said about me...Thank you...sniff :-) x

  20. Hi Sophie - your dolls are just beautiful & wistfull (or is it wishfull??) looking & look like they have a heart full of secrets they could share :-) Dont forget to share a pic with us when the shop do put them in their windows.
As for being a bag lady - sounds just fine by me!!! Last year the Mr came home & told me a guy he knew had driven past here & when the Mr next saw him in town he had said to him "I went past your house the other day & your Mrs was mowing the lawns in the pouring rain you know". My Mr simply said to him "shes eccentric & odd you know" - I felt so wonderful & happy sort of, when he relayed that story to me . . . !!!???
So yes I would like to have an alter ego and for her to be one of those ladies that dresses in purple with red hats and doesnt care what people think of her and rides one of my old bikes (out of my garden) with a big basket on front (except I would need new tyres on all of them). Thinking of you creating your dolls, Hugs, Julie X

  21. Sophie forget the saucepans. Hettie looks like she needs a cuddle.or maybe her socks need a change. Whats wrong with being a bag lady ? I thought it was quite normal or is that just me......

  22. Hey Sophie, I have followed the trail of breadcrumbs and it has bought me to your lovely blog........

(Actually I just popped over from Septmember Violets after seeing your comment)
Have had a brief but lovely visit and will return when my coffee cup is full and time allows.
And to be perfectly honest I think being called 'eccentric' would be a wonderful compliment....
certainly beats dull and boring, run of the mill, like everybody else!!

  23. Sophie, this really made me laugh at the things my husband says to me when I ask how I Look. Invariably he likes it best when I have on my most worn out jeans and no makeup and didn't have time to do my hair right. Ha!
Love your boots and the dearest dolls.

  26. Ah Sophie, I am out of the loop, being so far away, I have just caught up with 'that' post, and just need to say that I have felt exactly the same, but as a younger stage in motherhood, when I was quite isolated from family (naval life) and friends (moving about so much). I was hugely bereft of my own identity. I have no words of wisdom for you, I just went through it and took life as it came and probably would have done things very differently today. But you do come through the other side, a different person, because we are all shaped by events and the people we meet who influence us. Don't grieve for the person you once were, just make damned sure you like the person you are becoming. i.e., be your own person, as I'm sure you are, and a lovely one at that.

I'm loving the things you are making. I'm sure that developing our creativity is one of the ways in which we women deal with this constant evolving of our personas. Whether you create for yourself, loved ones, or for the market, wonderful things happen, go with the flow!
